Boat Licenses and Drivers License

Question Boat Licenses and Drivers License
The right to travel public roads and highways has been discussed for some time.

I thought about boats and came up with a few questions:

Why are pleasure (non-commercial) boats licensed?

A 10 foot row boat, for example.

AFAIK If you operate a licensed pleasure boat, you are not required to have a 'drivers' license.

Why are the boat rules and car rules different?

RE: Boat Licenses and Drivers License
Like with most of this stuff, a lot depends on which gangs you are close to.
Meanwhile, check out this classic double speak per The State Of Georgia:

dmv.com Wrote:Georgia requires a Boater Education Card for boaters, and not a boating license. The regulatory authority for the card is Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division (DNR). The card is mandatory for all boat operators 12 years of age and older.
... To obtain the Boating Safety Education Card, you must complete a boater education course approved by the Georgia DNR, or pass an approved equivalency test. In an approved course, students learn how to operate and maintain their boats, the legal requirements for boating, and what to do in emergencies. This ensures that boating remains a safe and fun experience. There are various approved ways you can complete the course and obtain the card:

It's not a "license" it's a "card" but the "card" is mandatory and you must complete and pass the approved course.

As far as asking "why?"? We're going to discuss why folks who believe in fictions believe something is different??

Chief Huffinstuff of The Obama Administration, in reply to my inquiry Wrote:
Thank you, fine American Citizen, for inquiring regarding current disparities in licensing between motor vehicle and water craft.

The Administration is acutely aware of the grave risk current water craft users are at due to current inadequate licensing standards due to disparity of regulations and is doing everything within it's Constitutional authority to correct it.

However, as you are surely aware, due to filibustering in the current Congress by Republicans, The Administration has been crippled in righting this travesty for U.S. Citizens. The Administration has legislation at the ready to increase expenditures to the essential levels needed in order to appropriate the employment of adequate forces to ensure the safety of all water craft participants. This includes hiring a swarm of new officers to more than ensure proper licensing, monitoring, check points, pat downs, strip searches, and enforcement of fines and penalties.

Again, The Administration is currently being critically stymied by pro-party Republicans, who in their partisanship are perpetually putting fine patriotic Americans at great risk every day. As soon as an Executive Order can be drafted, the vital and necessary resources will be allocated to The NSA and this long standing travesty of safety risk will be corrected. Americans can once again feel safe and be proud of their Democratic Government.

Thank you for your both you awareness of this terrible status left unaddressed by the previous Republican Administrations, and for your continued voluntary support in helping your fellow Americans to right this grave matter of injustice.
God Bless America!
The Obama Administration.

RE: Boat Licenses and Drivers License
^^ I will be petitioning Chief Huffinstuff of The Obama Administration to not stop at road and water traffic, and to do something about pedestrian traffic as well. I was walking the other day, and this miscreant accidentally bumped into me! Positively outrageous!! As a "citizen," I demand that something be done!!! I'm confident that the wonderful gubmit will do their usual bang-up job in solving the problem.

I suppose I should have known better.

It was worth a shot!

Hey! You just created a new niche market. Collars for pedestrians... So they have a place to hang their license tag.

I'm Free - I have government permission to say so..

RE: Boat Licenses and Drivers License
I had a boat license once. Boat licensing was introduced in by those asserting to be the State of Victoria in the early 2000s. The license was administrated by VicRoads (the same agency who issues motor vehicle licenses). They issued a credit-card sized piece of plastic that looked just like a car license, but was blue (water is blue, I guess). Even the license ID number was identicle to the car license I held (which also includes an endorcement for motorcycles).

Isn't that fantastic? Issue another separate piece of plastic with the same info on it, and charge more than the price of a car license.

Needless to say, I let it lapse. I still have the plastic, which proves I passed the test.

It's all about safety, apparently.

For some reason that causes my mind (stop laughing!) to envision barrels and Niagra Falls.
