I seem to be hearing, I may be wrong, that you think that with the right definition these individual people - who get together and conspire to threaten you with incarceration or death if you don't turn over the money they demand - somehow obtain legitimacy. Am I right in this supposition? (You may want to ponder this for a bit.)

What do you call the Mafia? Or the Bloods or Crips or similar groups of violent people? How are they any different than the I.R.S.? If you do see some difference, what is it, and does it somehow bestow authority over peaceful individuals? If so, how?

I think the core issue here may be "group think." Wherein somehow or other the "group" is perceived to have more "rights" than the individual members who make up the group.

I absolutely recognize government as a criminal organization with no legitimate authority over anyone. I just happen to think it exists. On the Peter Schiff Show Marc argued that the government doesn't exist. So I'm wondering what you call the criminal organization. I call it the government of the USA. I'm wondering how we're even supposed to refer to it if government doesn't exist.


Now why do we call the Bloods and Crips by those names? One major reason is because that's what they call themselves. So when another gang calls itself the atate, doesn't it make some sense to identify them as the state?

There is one fundamental difference between the Mafia, Bloods, Crips on one hand and the state on the other. The state imposes a legal (not to say morally legitimate) monopoly of force. So I think it makes sense to define the state by that unique characteristic.
