For brevity's and thread subject's sake, I'm not doing a quote of your post in my reply, but that's not to imply that I don't value it; quite the contrary; you've made some interesting points and observations. One I do wish to touch on:

If memory serves me, it's now pretty well substantiated that it's not only (or merely?) a reading issue. And indeed, is for some individuals the same issue but with numbers. Again, if memory (?) serves, it's now more determined to be a sequencing issue in general. And I find in my own experiences, it can indeed be a combination within one and the same brain (or is it, the mind?!). [a quick desktop search turned up my copy of "Dyslexia And Mathematics (1992)", so I'm sure that's my primary "source"; a websearch should aide here if interest prevails --and if anything of interest is found, a fwd of it to me would be muchly appreciated!]
