Gandhi was a statist
I just got watching this Gandhi movie for about the 20th time and was thinking how could someone so wise not figure this out. He got the whole british empire to pack up and leave by making a pinch of salt. He got everyone to burn their clothes and only wear those homemade spun potato sacks. So how come he was promoting that India should have its own government? Why didn't he call for a voluntary society? Why?
If Mr. Gandhi wasn't able to comprehend the idea of a non-violent society How am I to be expected to spread the message to my fellow authority worshipping statists? How? Please be responsive... |

Re: Gandhi was a statist
Dear Mr. Entity, I read your most recent article on strike the root and I agree with most of what you had to say especially about the drug taking. The part I was confused about is your comment about this Gandhi fellow. If you could please clarify to me and everyone else that would be great.
"If you can find it in you to do so, try to be like Gandhi and Sully Sullenberger and be the world you want to live in" Why would anyone want to be like this violent antisocial bully Gandhi guy? What type of role model is he? He used nonviolent civil disobedience to expose the limey brits for what they are and sent them packing only to do the exact same thing, install a violent oppressive government. Looks like a classic case of meet the new boss same as the old boss. We wont get fooled again, Mr.Entity. Please respond and be responsive... |

Who can say... maybe Gandhi was a hair's width aware from being an anarchist. Perhaps he will inspire more people to the idea of anarchy that other full blown anarchists. The more I think about it the more I come to the conclusion that the need for an external authority is the root of the problem. This is not an intelectual problem... it is a deeply psychological one. Perhaps by living a truly non-violent life, by being and anarchist,... perhaps that does more good than a life time of convincing. |

Well, just goes to show you that I can be as ignorant as the next fellow. I am unaware of Gandhi installing a government. I based my commentary on the part where he inspired others to reject the government. - NonE "I just don't understand how this happens."

Re: Gandhi was a statist
Thank you guys for being responsive when you responded. According to the movie he was instrumental in establishing the new regime. I liked him too in the first couple hours of the movie then he cracks under the pressure. Mr. Gandhi was a great soul. He took on the responsibility of his own fear and also the great collective fear of millions and millions of people and turned it into courage, love, and wisdom. I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle all that pressure. In the end though he helped institute another system of fear and hatred and ingorance. Maybe one of these days a new Gandhi will lead us to the promise land....

Consider this idea: There are no leaders. There are only followers. He who pretends to be a leader is only attempting to build his ego by looking back and pointing out all of those who are following. It is impossible to lead one who is unwilling to follow. As that great feminist T-shirt says, "What part of NO don't you understand?" If you are unwilling to take responsibility for accepting reality, there is no one else who can do it for you. The promised land is here, now. This is the only land there is, so you will have to make of it what you will. - NonE "I just don't understand how this happens."

Re: Gandhi was a statist
It relates to all life in a general relative sense...
Which by the way I am a follower. Ive never had any original creative thought to myself. Everything Ive ever learned or thought has been because someone else has done it or thought it before. I am forever grateful for being a follower. I've been following numerous people in numerous different directions my whole life. I hope someone will someday lead me away from this endless cycle of wandering about following people. |
