Re: Santa Barbara here
William_Austin Wrote:After reading that I was left with only one question,... what is a fact? Words written down that explain what is? Fact is I was born free, thats the only facts I know about myself. (in regards to these issues) As I said, words are not fact to me, they are just that, words.umm... was that a rhetorical question? Or is it something you wished responded to? And I agree that words are not the facts (or the "factual", "fact"+"actual"). Words are concepts we can beneficially agree upon. Words then can be "mapped" by scribblings on paper or as pixels on a monitor, and are also associated with distinguishable vocalizations. I like the analogy I was introduced to, here in fact [sic]... that goes something along the lines words are to reality what maps are to real estate (territory). One wouldn't want to confuse the map with being the territory; nor would one want to confuse mere words with expansive empirical reality. Words, akin to maps, are but first a perspective of the drafter. And words like maps can be only shortcuts taken, snippet attempts to restrictively capture something incapable of being captured in its plethora of dimensions. The key thing I try to stay alert with regarding words, is whether they are fashioned to try to convey empirical reality (ie the factual) or whether they were fashioned to try to convey concepts (ie the potentially beneficial). The latter of course is what opens the door for words that convey only or purely the fictional, ie the imaginary and pretend. As difficult if not impossible as it is to convey empirical reality with mere lines or vocalizations, how much moreso that which only "exists" inside one's mind?! Quote:I am and have been successful at tracking down the info that shows how, when and where your certificate are used in financial arena's...*umm* "your" certificate?? hehehe-- make that Their certificate? :winkwink: This info is something you have factual, verifiable, evidence for?! Honestly, if so, that would be a first for me to actually see (I've only to date heard the theories and enticing conjecture etc). I'm definitely interested in hearing more about it if you would be so kind and at liberty to share. I had a nice smile here. This certificate biz prompted me to recall the first time I heard someone explore the tenets around one's own birth, and the personally testifiable facts (or lack thereof) about much of it, so often taken for granted (and under the influence of a lot of indoctrination and dogma). For one example, how often do people testify to their birth date, when in reality, factually, all they can offer, personally, is hearsay?! (not to even get into such hearsay being allowed as admissible as factual evidence). It would be quite funny if it weren't so serious these days! _______________________________

( I see he did that already...) "I just don't understand how this happens."
