i wanted to interrupt here to note: the author signals later this as well:

"empirically unsupported ideas"... oh, like say, "The Law Exists and Applies"? Skeptical (where by "Law", They mean "Legal" aka "Opinion" aka doctrine?)

Perhaps this gets to the heart of what "religious" (the label is needed for, as what) ultimately is, as what the religious are doing --as less solely about what godism/theism is-- as being but one aspect or corner of "the religious mind"?

While i understand an appeal of the traditional usage, imho the author would more accurately communicate the empirical point if he used less theistic rather than less religious here.?

And how does being (one of) "God's Chosen We The People" work circa a "quest for significance"?

And if the author was specifying which religion i.e. godism versus governmentism?

i would be interested to know if this is "U.S." specific as well?
Or, is this typical of atheistic/agnostic Europeans (as well)?

And can it be voluntary, if there's indoctrination, intimidation, coercion, threats & initiation of violence?
[not to be confused with asking: can it be said to be "voluntary" even when such is present.?]

I heard footsteps walk up a stairway and walk down the upstairs hallway. I was 14 to 16 years old at the time. 40 years later my brother confirmed what I heard because the rest of the family was down stairs and heard the foot falls to the stairway and up the stairs.

Must have been dark energy and dark matter to steal a term from mainstream theoretical physicists.

In 1992-1993 on I-80 north of the salt flats, I observed the stars moving just like the Japanese Emperor did circa? 1200-1600. (I don't recollect the year the book I was reading said.)

I don't believe anybody calling themselves government has any non bogus authority.

<Shrug>

Interesting article eye...

Can anybody delegate an authority they don't have?
Was anybody born with innate authority over anybody else?
Then how did authority nobody had get delegated to those who call themselves government?

Show me my personally signed contract wherein I consented to be governed.
